Unframed Print The fall of Nineveh after John Martin (England 1789 – 1854) (Missing Pices of paper and water damage)

The Fall of Nineveh is a 1829 print by English artist John Martin. The work illustrates the biblical prophecy from the Book of Nahum concerning the destruction of Nineveh, the capital of the ancient Assyrian Empire. Nineveh, though magnificent, was described in the Bible as a "bloody city".

The print depicts the city's destruction around 612 BC by a coalition of Medes and Babylonians. According to the narrative, floods broke down the city walls, allowing invaders to enter. The image presents a chaotic scene with fleeing Ninevites and King Sardanapalus preparing a funeral pyre
